Duterte keeps wide lead over Roxas in latest HNU poll

Rodrigo Duterte and Leni Robredo widened their lead over their rivals according to the results of the Holy Name University (HNU) Bohol Poll Pre-Election Round 2016 released a few hours ago, Friday, May 6, 2016.

Boholanos still prefer Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Laban (PDP-Laban) presidential candidate Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte over Liberal Party (LP) standard bearer Mar Roxas by a score of 45% to 32%.

Even in the cross tabulation results where those who preferred LP standard bearer for governor Edgar Chatto, 43% crossed party lines and chose Duterte as their president rather than Roxas 37%.

Those who picked gubernatorial bet Loay Mayor Rosemarie Imboy, who is allied with United Nationalist Alliance (UNA), 59% went for Duterte, 23% for Senator Grace Poe and 9% for Roxas.

Duterte got high marks in the 3rd district over Roxas 53% to 24% or a margin of 29% followed by Tagbilaran City 52% to 28% against Roxas, 24% gap with the 1st district giving Duterte 52% versus Roxas 28%, a significant advantage of 15%.

It was only in the 2nd district where Roxas led Duterte by a narrow margin of 41% to 35% but considered a statistical tie since the margin of error for the 2nd district is +/-10%.

Poe, Binay and Senator Miriam Santiago scored a low of 14%, 8% and 1% respectively.

Duterte also scored high in Class ABCDE over Roxas with an average score of 20% with male voters going for Duterte 55% to 26% while Roxas was ahead by a slim margin over Duterte in the female votes 38% to 36%.

Duterte got the nod of the 18-24 age group 54% with Poe coming in at 24% followed by Roxas 13%. In the 45 and above category, Duterte held a slim lead of 45% over Roxas 39%.

The Bohol Poll Pre-election Round 2016 was conducted on Arpil 10-18 – May 2, 2016 with a sample of 400 respondents (Boholano voters) for the entire province. The margin of error for Bohol is +/- 5%, Tagbilaran City, Districts 2 and 3 is +/- 10% while District 1 is +/- 7%. (Chito M. Visarra)
