The province of Bohol is almost entirely affected by illegal drugs, according to the Philippine National Police (PNP).

Out of 1,109 Bohol barangays, 1,087 or 98.02% are affected by narcotics activities based on a data from the Bohol Provincial Police Office (BPPO).

Police Supt. Lorenzo Batuan, chief of the BPPO’s operations branch, reported to the Provincial Board on Friday that 534 villages in Bohol are slightly affected by drugs while 553 are moderately affected.

None of the Bohol villages is seriously affected by illegal narcotics and only 22 or 1.88% are not affected, Batuan said.

Of the 22 drug-free villages, 10 are located in Loon, three in Anda, three in Garcia Hernandez, one in Alicia, one in Antequera, one in Pres. Carlos P. Garcia, one in Dagohoy, one in Duero and one in Getafe.

The BPPO, under Senior Supt. Felipe Natividad, tallied the most number of drug “surrendeerees” in the entire region.

Starting July 1, 2016 until September 7,  31,726 self-confessed drug personalities have surrendered to Bohol authorities.

A total of 30,263 were noted as users while only 1,463 yielded for involvement in illegal drug trade, police said.

Following his revelation to the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, Batuan urged the public to be vigilant and extend support to the BPPO’s bid to make Bohol drug-free. (Rey Tutas)

A misleading report. It means 98 % of all barangays are affected by illegal drugs. If only one is an addict in a barangay, then the barangay is reported and counted as drug affected. This makes the report seems inappropriate. It does not convey the true picture.
