A woman suspected of attempting to sneak in what was believed to be shabu into the City of Tagbilaran Rehabilitation Center (CTRC) was released after the confiscated white crystalline substance turned out to be salt.

Winnie Coles, a resident of Brgy. Cogon, this city was released Monday night after the police crime lab clarified that the substance she attempted to pass on to a detainee was not shabu.

Coles, 26, was arrested Sunday night as she visited her live-in partner Edgar Gepana who is being held on drug charges.

Security measures were reportedly tightened given the nature of Gepana’s case prompting the jail guard to double check in frisking Coles and inspecting her belongings.

Based on reports, JO1 Noel Fuego found the white crystalline substance inside a food container brought by Coles.

Coles vehemently denied allegations as she said that the confiscated item was salt.

She was detained at the lock-up jail of the Tagbilaran City police while the crime investigation section of the city police examined the seized substance. (Wellie Maestrado)
