An unidentified suspect on board a motorcycle allegedly tried to abduct a 13-year-old girl in Candijay on Wednesday, the town’s police said.

According to PO3 Nelson Cagata of the Candijay Police Station, the victim’s mother, Leona Ong, had the alleged kidnap attempt recorded on police blotter after her daughter came home crying and trembling.

Ong narrated to police that her daughter was walking to school when a man driving a motorcycle approached her and told her to get on board.

After she declined, the suspect allegedly grabbed the girl’s hand prompting her to run and look for a hiding spot.

There was a slowly moving red van trailing the motorcycle, added Ong.

As she hid behind a neighbor’s gate, the girl reportedly saw both vehicles moving slowly for several minutes before speeding away.

The girl told police that the suspect was alone on the motorcycle and was wearing a helmet and a black jacket while no one seemed to have alighted from the van.

Cagata said that they will still investigate the case while police urged the public to be vigilant. (Allen Doydora)
