Projects in Antequera with a combined worth of approximately P30 million were inaugurated during the six-day celebration of the town’s 141st founding anniversary which started last Sunday.

Gov. Edgar Chatto, Mayor Jose Mario Pahang and Vice Mayor Simeon Jadulco on Friday led the inauguration of the Antequera Public Market which was built through the Bohol Earthquake Assistance (BEA) fund.

A total of P26 million was funneled by the Department of the Interior and Local Government to the local government unit (LGU) for the construction of the public market, said Pahang.

The LGU also launched other newly completed public establishments including the P1-million Municipal Health Center and P1.6-million Tourism Products Center and “green” restrooms which were funded by the Department of Health and the Department of Tourism, respectively.

During the weeklong celebration, the newly rehabilitated Antequera Police Station which was allotted a P1-million budget by the LGU was also inaugurated.

Although the festivities were a success, Pahang expressed dismay that the celebration’s supposed guest of honor, police chief Dir. General Ronald dela Rosa, did not make it to the event.

The police official was ordered by President Rodrigo Duterte to attend to other important matters in Davao City, said Pahang.

During the League of Municpalities general assembly in Manila earlier this week, Pahang personally spoke with dela Rosa who said that he is willing to attend future activities of Antequera.

The highest ranking police official once lived in Barangay Canlaas in Antequera and is related to the clans of Coquilla, Cruspero and Marapon. (Rey Tutas)
