FATHER AND SON. Teofilo Tampus and son Jonathan were allegedly caught with shabu worth P18.5 million in separate anti-drug operations.

Police operatives seized a total of P18.5-million worth of shabu from two separate operations over the weekend which happened to involve father and son.

The son fell first at a checkpoint, together with a female companion, at around 7 p.m. on May 5 in Loon.

Jonathan Tampus, a 23-year-old resident of barangay Nahawan Clarin; and his 18-year-old live-in partner, Geraldine Betinol, a resident of barangay Taloto in Tagbilaran City, yielded 50 grams of shabu worth P590,000, a .45 caliber handgun and seven live ammunitions at the checkpoint.

Elements of Loon municipal police, together with the 2nd Maneuver Company of Catagbacan Norte in Loon and 62nd Infantry Battalion of the 3rd Infantry Division of the Philippine Army, led by PCInsp. Jose Gesto, intercepted them at the checkpoint set up in front of the municipal hall located in barangay Cogon Norte.

At around 1:40 p.m. the following day, a composite team of Cebu and Clarin police arrested Tampus’ 47-year-old father, Teofilo, in a buy-bust operation in barangay Nahawan, Clarin.

The older Tampus, who resides at Sitio Kalubihan in barangay Nahawan, had earlier surrendered to authorities through Oplan Tokhang, but police operatives learned that he continued with his illegal activities.

The composite police team seized three kilos of shabu from him with estimate value of P18 million, the biggest drug bust haul in Bohol, so far.

The buy-bust team comprised personnel of the Regional Special Operations Group-7 led by PSInsp. Ricaro Tero, and Clarin municipal police station, led by its chief of police, PSInsp. Fernando Peroramas.

They were supposed to arrest him right after the consummation of the buy-bust, but Teofilo Tampus hurriedly went inside his house to evade the authorities.

However, the cops followed him and cornered Teofilo Tampus inside his house where they saw the three large packs of shabu in plain view.
