Gov. Edgar Chatto yesterday thanked outgoing Philippine National Police (PNP) Reg’l. Dir. Noli Taliño for Bohol’s peace, citing the general as a “true friend, ally” and a “committed leader.”

A visible leading peacekeeper at the height of the crushed Abu Sayyaf attempt in Bohol, Taliño will be assigned to Camp Crame having been promoted as a directorial staff for Human Resource and Doctrine Development.

“I just learned that you are moving to another assignment.  Please, allow me to thank you, on behalf of the officials and people of Bohol, for your unconditional support in your stint as RD of Region 7 PNP,” Chatto said in his text message to Taliño yesterday.

Taliño, who is exactly one year since assuming as Central Visayas police head in July 2016, will be replaced tomorrow by Chief Supt. Jose Mario Espino, a member of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) Class 1986.

Espino comes from the Civil Security Group – Supervisory Office for Security and Investigative Agencies (SOSIA) at Camp Crame, the PNP National Headquarters.

Chatto continued in his farewell message to Taliño, “We found a true friend, ally and committed leader in you.  With our highest esteem and respect.  God Bless!”

Taliño in turn thanked the Bohol governor for “all the support you have extended to me as your RD of PRO7 and to your Bohol PPO.”

“You made our job easy. I know how organized and effective Bohol (and) that’s why the ASG (Abu Sayyaf Group) was not successful,” the police general said to the governor.

Taliño cited Bohol’s purok power movement (PPM) which, he said, “is really a model” to other areas in the country.

“Keep it up, Gov.  I will treasure my stay in Region 7, especially Bohol, a very nice place,” the PNP official further said in his text response.
