A man on board a sedan with his family was fired upon by an unidentified gunman along Brgy. San Roque, Maribojoc at 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday, said the police chief of neighboring town Antequera.

Senior Insp. Marcos Lopez told DYRD Balita that the victim, Alvin Ayco, a resident of Poblacion Antequera, was on his way home when his car was shot at by one of two suspects.

According to Lopez, the motorcycle-riding gunman fired a .45 caliber gun at Ayco’s Toyota sedan hitting the vehicle three times.

There were two suspects, one was driving while the other was the shooter, said Lopez.

“The suspects were wearing helmets, then one suddenly fired when [Ayco’s] vehicle stopped,” said Lopez in Cebuano.

“He was with his child, wife and helper,” added Lopez.

However, the police chief noted that it was unlikely that the shooter intended to kill Ayco.

It may have been just a threat, he said.

“Had they intended to kill the victim he could have shot straight at the car’s driver,” added Lopez.

The three bullets which were fired reportedly hit the bottom part of the vehicle including the lower segment of the driver seat’s door.
