Dauis to hold 1st Panagat Festival; Sec. Evasco to join festivities

The first Panagat Festival is set to be celebrated in Dauis tomorrow as part of the town’s commemoration of its 297th founding anniversary.

According to the Dauis local government unit (LGU), the festivities which will now be an annual event are meant to pay tribute to the town’s t primary livelihood of fishing.

The celebration will start with a mass and a parade and will be highlighted by a dance showdown.

Cabinet Secretary Leoncio Evasco Jr. is expected to join the event along with local officials including Gov. Edgar Chatto and Vice Gov. Dionisio Balite.

Evasco will be delivering a message during the festival, according to the program’s schedule of activities.

During the event, Dauis Mayor Miriam Sumaylo will also deliver her State of the Municipality Address which will tackle the LGU’s achievements and programs.

Meanwhile, a mass wedding will be held during the festivities.

Starting Sunday, nightly activities have kicked off and will continue until the town’s fiesta on August 15. (AD)
