The driver of a motorcycle which reportedly collided head on against a pickup truck driven by a doctor who works for a local government unit in Bohol was killed on Thursday due to injuries sustained.

Floro Mahinay, 45, a resident of Brgy. Baucan Sur, Balilihan was driving a Honda XRM when he figured in the fatal accident along Brgy. San Isidro in Tagbilaran City at 5 p.m.

He was travelling along J.A Clarin near the Barangay Hall of San Isidro and was on his way to Corella, authorities said.

Based on the probe of the Tagbilaran City police’s traffic investigation section, Mahinay accidentally slammed straight into the pickup truck of Dr. Violo Llorente Jr., municipal health officer of Balilihan.

The motorcycle and Llorente’s Ford Ranger were travelling at high speeds when the collision happened along JA Clarin, said police.

Both victims were immediately rescued by Tarsier 117 emergency respondents.

However, Mahinay reportedly died before reaching the hospital.

Meanwhile, Llorente is being treated for minor injuries sustained.

Police are still conducting a follow up investigation on the incident while both vehicles involved in the accident were taken into police custody. (A. Doyrdora)
