A 26-year-old man drowned in waters off Baclayon town on Saturday last week, said the municipality’s police chief.

Senior Insp. Jesus Daplin identified the victim as Zenas Batuhinay Jr., a resident of upper Candait, Barangay Dampas in Tagbilaran City.

According to Daplin, the victim was positively identified by his parents who went to the Baclayon Police Station a day after the drowning incident.

Batuhinay’s body was found in seawaters off Barangay Poblacion in Baclayon on Sunday, said Daplin.

The victim’s family informed authorities that Batuhinay suffered from epilepsy.

The information prompted police to believe that the victim had an epileptic seizure while swimming in Baclayon seawaters causing him to drown. (R. Tutas)
