Maria Adela Badayos allegedly sold shabu worth P9,500 to an undercover agent in exchange for mostly fake bills in an anti-drug operation in Tagbilaran City at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

A female suspect deemed a priority target of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) was arrested in an anti-drug operation on Tuesday afternoon.

Authorities identified the suspect as Maria Adela Badayos, 31, a resident of Purok 5, Barangay Manga in Tagbilaran City.

According to PDEA agent Chona Egam, Badayos was caught in possession of eight grams of shabu with an estimated street value of P35,000.

In a report, the PDEA noted that the suspect sold shabu worth P9,500 to a poseur-buyer during a buy-bust operation conducted by the PDEA and the 703rd Maritime Police.

However, most of the buy-bust money used was fake and only P500 was real, authorities said.

As the joint operatives of the PDEA and police arrested Badayos, they found the rest of her drug stash and cash deposit receipts for P250,000.

According to the PDEA, Badayos is also listed in the Tagbilaran City Police Office’s drug watch list.

She is now detained while drug charges are set to be filed against her. (WM)
