Police on Monday seized P295,000 worth of suspected shabu from two alleged drug personalities including a “high value target” during an anti-narcotics operation in Tagbilaran City.

Police identified the priority target as Paul Ian Baliong, 27, and his companion as Renza Botero, 29, both residents of Purok 3, Barangay Ubujan in Tagbilaran City.

The two suspects were arrested by joint operatives of the Provincial Intelligence Branch, Tagbilaran City police, Regional Special Operations Group and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in a drug buy-bust.

According to PIB chief P/Sr. Insp. Jojit Mananquil, Baliong was spotted by police selling illegal drugs in Sitio Cabesi in Barangay Ubujan at 11 a.m. on the same day.

This prompted police to set up the sting operation wherein Baliong allegedly transacted with an undercover cop while Botero handed over the drugs worth P500.

Baliong and Botero were taken into police custody and were allegedly caught in possession of the 25 grams of suspected shabu.

Both will be charged for violating Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (W. Maestrado)
