The Bohol Provincial Prosecutor’s Office has dismissed charges against two suspects in the alleged illegal detention and kidnapping of the best friend of Bien Unido mayor Gisela Boniel, who is presumed dead.

According to a 14-page resolution, there was no evidence indicating that Brian Sayson and Wilson Hoylar had involvement in holding Angela Leyson and her 17-year-old son captive prior to the killing of Boniel whose body remains missing.

“Apparently there is no evidence to speak or show that the latter respondents were among of the 6-8 persons who assaulted the mayor and could link them in the unlawful detention and withholding of Angela and [her son],” the resolution signed August 18, 2017 reads.

Meanwhile, Provincial Prosecutor Macario Delusa found probable cause to charge Allan Delos Reyes Jr, Wilfredo Hoylar, Lobo Boniel, Randel Lupas and Restituto Magoncia Jr. for the same charges before the Regional Trial Court Branch (RTC) 52 in Talibon.

Board Member Niño Rey Boniel who is now detained at the Talibon District Jail was already indicted for the said cases and had pleaded not guilty in June.

Leyson, however, was not present during the proceedings as she was represented by her lawyer Atty. Lanilyn Pangilinan.

In late June, Niño was formally charged with parricide at the RTC Branch 54 in Lapu-Lapu City.

Instead of parricide as initially filed by police, a murder case was lodged in court against Lupas,  Magoncia, Wilfredo and Niño’s cousin Reolito. (Rey Tutas)
