‘Mentally ill’ man, 26, hangs self in Tubigon

A man believed to have been mentally ill due to substance abuse was found dead in Tubigon apparently due to suicide.

Police identified the fatality as 26-year-old Remelyn Gorre, a resident of Barangay Centro in the said town.

Based on initial police investigation, the victim allegedly hanged himself with a rope inside his grandmother’s house.


He was later on found by his grandmother lifeless with a rope tied around his neck at around 6 p.m. on Wednesday.

The victim was still rushed to a hospital but he was declared dead on arrival by attending physicians.

According to the Gorre’s grandmother, the victim was not himself and was not acting “normally” for a several weeks prior to the alleged suicide.

She noted that Gorre’s behavior might have been caused by the use of illegal drugs.

Meanwhile, police noted that there were no indications of foul play behind Gorre’s death. (AD)
