A 51-year-old man was arrested on Saturday for allegedly raping a 4-year-old girl at the house of the victim’s grandfather in the municipality of Loon, said the town’s police.
The Women and Children’s Protection Desk (WCPD) of the Loon Police Station identified the suspect as Raul Magason, a resident of Barangay Lintuan.
Based on the Loon WCPD’s investigation, the crime which transpired at around 1 p.m. on Saturday was, by chance, momentarily witnessed by the victim’s mother.
According to the 4-year-old’s mother, Maria (not her real name), the house’s front door was blocked when she was about to go in prompting here to peer through a hole.
Maria then kicked the door open after she allegedly saw Magason on his knees while the victim was reclined towards him.
She immediately grabbed the victim and took her outside to examine her body while the suspect left.
According to Maria, her daughter’s private part appeared reddish which she perceived to have been an indication of abuse.
She then fled the area out of fear and reported the incident to police.
Less than 15 minutes after the incident, responding policemen chanced upon Magason who was unclothed and was positively identified by Maria.
Magasaon was arrested and taken to the Loon Police Station.
According to the Loon WCPD, Magason who frequented the house of the victim’s grandfather to play mahjong admitted to having committed the crime and that he was drunk when he raped the 4-year-old.
Based on a medico-legal examination, the girl tested positive for rape, while a criminal complaint was already filed against the suspect on Monday. (A. Doydora)
