An armed motorcycle-driving man, 43, died on the spot after he was accidentally hit by a Southern Star bus in Tagbilaran City on Sunday.
The victim was identified as Ariel Bayog, a resident of Barangay Dampas in Tagbilaran City.
Based on police investigation, the bus, driven by one Joelito Canizares, 53, was traversing Zamora Street from Barangay Taloto on its way to the Dao Bus Terminal during the incident.
Toledo while driving along the said street reportedly did not notice that Bayog suddenly emerged from the intersecting Toledo Street.
The bus then headed straight towards Bayog hitting him and causing severe injuries that led to his instantaneous death.
According to authorities, the victim was not wearing a helmet during the incident.
Meanwhile, police found in the victim’s possession a driver’s license and a “paltik” .45 caliber pistol loaded with five live rounds.
Canizares was taken into custody by the Tagbilaran City police following the incident. (wm)
