Christmas Eve and Christmas Day celebrations in Tagbilaran City were “generally peaceful,” said police.

According to Tagbilaran police chief Supt. Patricio Degay Jr., there were no crimes and other untoward incidents recorded in their main blotter during the two-day period.

The Tagbilaran police force augmented by units from Camp Dagohoy were deployed in key areas across the city including churches to boost police visibility, said Degay.

Police also roamed the city through mobile patrols playing recorded announcements warning against burglaries and reminding the public not to leave houses unattended.

Degay also issued an order directing police to confiscate firecrackers being sold outside predesignated sale areas for the items.

According to Degay, police have only so far confiscated a few firecrackers illegally sold in Barangay Taloto and along CPG East Avenue. (W. Maestrado)
