A 66-year-old woman remains in critical condition after she was shot in the face by a still unidentified suspect in Carmen at past 7 p.m. on Thursday, police said.
SPO1 Ruben Misiona of the Carmen police identified the victim as Luzminda Delenson, a resident of Barangay Villafuerte in Carmen.
According to Misiona, Delenson had just finished eating supper with her husband and was washing dishes when the gunman shot her.
Delenson’s husband told police that he heard a single gunshot prompting him to check on his wife.
He then saw that Delenson was sprawled on the floor and was not moving.
Delenson reportedly sustained a gunshot wound that went through her cheek and out her nape.
According to Misiona, they are eyeing personal conflict as motive behind the shooting of the 66-year-old.
Delenson is known to be a “manambal” or village healer while she had claimed to be a psychic.
Her husband told police that she previously received a threat telling her to stop putting curses on people.
Meanwhile, authorities continued their investigation on the case and examination of the crime scene. (A. Doydora)
