A 31-year-old man landed in the hospital after he was shot by his friend when he refused to drink a shot of liquor offered by the suspect on Friday night, police said.

PO3 Lord Daculio of the Bilar Police Station identified the victim as Majacen Macaren, a resident of Barangay Poblacion of said town.

According to Daculio, Macaren was shot two times by suspect Hermes Mandin, 30, at the Bilar Public Market while the latter was drinking liquor.

Residents near the crime scene told police that they heard the gunshots at around 8 p.m.

There were no spent bullet casings found in the crime scene but authorities believe that the suspect used a .38 caliber revolver to shoot Macaren.

Daculio said that Macaren sustained two gunshot wounds in the right side of his chest.

He was rushed to a hospital where he continued to be treated for his injuries as of this posting.

Meanwhile, police have yet to verify if there was a deeper conflict between Macaren and Mandin.

Authorities also continued to search for Mandin who remained at large. (RT)
