A 52-year-old man was arrested in Jagna on Sunday after allegedly molesting his 14-year-old step granddaughter.
The mother of the victim reported to police that suspect Cristino Dapitan touched the private part of the girl, said Sr. Insp. Angelito Vallecer, Jagna police chief.
According to Vallecer, the alleged molestation happened at around 2:30 a.m. on Sunday.
The victim awoke during the incident and immediately stood up as she rushed to her mother.
Vallecer said that Dapitan admitted to having committed the crime due to intoxication as he had been drinking prior to the incident.
It was the first time that Dapitan molested the victim, Vallecer said.
Dapitan’s son is the live-in partner of the victim’s mother.
Meanwhile, a rape suspect was arrested in Tubigon on Sunday.
The suspect was identified as Luie Casiguran, 37, of Barangay Centro of the said town.
According to the Tubigon police, Casiguran was taken into police custody through an alias warrant of arrest issued by Judge Jaime Santiago of Branch 18 in Tagaytay City and dated January 17, 2017.
The suspect is currently detained at the Tubigon lock-up jail pending his turnover to Cavite authorities. (A. Doydora)
