An 18-year-old man who had recently graduated from senior high school was killed while two others were injured in a car crash in Dauis town on Friday afternoon.

PO1 Benjie Añana told dyRD Balita that the Montero sports utility vehicle (SUV) carrying the three victims flipped to its side after the driver lost control of the vehicle at past 5 p.m.

The fatality, identified as Marvin Guiritan of Tagbilaran City died on the spot while the ill-fated SUV’s driver, Prince Jumawid, 19, and one Allen Pablo, 18, were rushed to the hospital.

Guiritan went through the windshield after the vehicle crashed, said Añana based on their initial investigation.

According to Añana, Jumawid tried to overtake a motorcycle along the national road in Barangay Tinago but lost control of the vehicle which went beyond the paved road and unto a slope at the opposite lane.

Jumawid was driving towards Tagbilaran City from Panglao town during the fatal accident, said Añana.

“Mi-overtake, pagbawi niya mi-kawas kini sa kalsada mao natuwad ang sakyanan unya digto na igo sa punuan sa kahoy. Tungod sa kakusog sa impact siguro, mi-lagpot tong usa ka pasahero,” he added.

Both injured teenagers were transferred to a private hospital in Tagbilaran City and are already in stable condition as of this posting.

Meanwhile, police are still continuing their investigation on the case and have yet to identify the owner of the vehicle. (R. Tutas)
