The Dagohoy Police Station is still facing a blank wall as to the motive and suspect in the murder of a 79-year-old man who was stabbed and hacked to death.
According to PO2 Daryl Esclamado of the Dagohoy police, the victim had hack wounds in his head and stab wounds in his neck and chest which caused his death.
Esclamado identified the victim as Doroteo Varquez, a widower who has been living alone in his residence in Barangay Sta. Cruz in Dagohoy.
Varquez’s lifeless body was found sprawled on the ground of his bedroom by daughter Fe Laurden, 42, at 9:30 on Wednesday.
Laurden immediately alerted the village’s barangay captain, Fermin Jeminos, Jr. who in turn reported the incident to police.
Esclamado said that Varquez may have been dead since April 15. He was last seen in the afternoon of said day and may have been hacked and killed in the evening.
Police investigators meanwhile are still continuing their probe on the grisly crime. (ad)
