Two drug suspects were arrested in a drug buy bust operation conducted inside a pig farm owned by Loay mayor Rochelle Brigette Imboy.

According to Loay Police Station chief Sr. Insp. Vincent Dumaguing, authorities also gathered information indicating that the farm has been used as a drug den and a drop zone for drug supply.

The piggery may have been used for illegal drug activities as it is located in a remote area, said Dumaguing.

In a report, police identified the arrested suspects as Hermes Barrete and Renel Rañola, an employee of Imboy’s piggery.

Both men previously surrendered as drug personalities through the police’s Oplan Tokhang.

Authorities said that one of the suspects was in possession of one packet of shabu while the other sold another packet containing the illegal substance to a poseur-buyer.

According to Dumaguing, Imboy was aware of the suspects’ illegal activities inside her property.

“Ang amoang target usa diay pod sa iyang concern, si [Imboy] napod mismo ang ming hatag ug clearance nga ‘i-push through na na ninyo ang inyong operation kay makadaut na sa lungsod nato’,” said Dumaguing.

Dumaguing noted that he was transferred to Loay earlier this month to serve as police station commander.

Just over a week into his new assignment, he immediately received reports regarding illegal activities inside the mayor’s pig farm, he said. (A. Doydora)
