The police officer assigned as jail guard of the Tagbilaran police lock-up facility last Saturday has been relieved of his post and is now subjected to investigation for the short-lived escape of three detainees who are all suspected to have links to SPO1 Adonis Dumpit.

Police Provincial Director Angeles Geñorga confirmed that PO3 Julio Vallejos has been relieved on Monday from the Tagbilaran City Police Station and is now at Camp Dagohoy while being subjected to investigation.

Vallejos was the police officer assigned as prison guard when three suspected drug personalities bolted the city police lock-up jail, taking advantage of the power interruption at dawn on June 30.

The three detainees were identified as Sergio Bongo, also known as Pahak, a 42-year-old resident of Purok 4 in barangay Manga, Tagbilaran City; Sergio Tahadlangit III, a 35-year-old resident of Lindaville Subdivision Phase II in barangay San Isidro, Tagbilaran City; and Ronnel Mahumot, a 21-year-old native of barangay Sagasa, Balilihan.

The three are all facing complaints of possession and selling of dangerous drugs. Mahumot is also facing a complaint of illegal possession of firearm.

The power interruption last Saturday lasted from 12:30 a.m. to 6 a.m.

Bongo and Tahadlangit were captured around two hours later in Albur, while Mahumot was rearrested by the tracker team of Tagbilaran City Police Station at past 5 p.m. yesterday in Barangay Alegria, Carmen, Bohol.

The three found a chance to sneak out of the when another detainee, Dominador Bartolata, had to be transferred to the lobby when he complained of difficulty to breath.

Vallejos allegedly forgot to lock the main door of the lock-up cell after Bartolata was led out of the cell.

As Vallejos also allegedly took long in returning to the lock-up cell, the three found an opportunity to sneak out.

It was estimated that the three left the city police lock-up jail at around 3:30 a.m. last Saturday.

The investigation on Vallejos will also include the suspected link of the three detainees with the slain SPO1 Adonis Dumpit who had been tagged as protector of drug pushers in the city.

Dumpit was killed in an NBI operation three days prior to the escape of the three detainees at the city police lock-up jail.
