A total of eight personnel from the Tagbilaran City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) have been dismissed from the service after testing positive for illegal drug use.

The personnel who were assigned in the field were found to be positive for illegal drug use through two drug tests conducted in May and June, said CDRRMO chief Gerard Lavadia.

Two tested positive in the May test and six in June, Lavadia added.

He however did not name the dismissed CDRRMO personnel.

Lavadia noted that he had already suspected that some of his personnel were illegal drug users prompting him to order the testing.

“Syempre kahibaw naman ta nga dunay drugas bisan asa unya kining klase sa trabaho nato 24 hours maong nakahunahuna ko nga basin naay ning gamit kay naa may active gihapon kaayo,” said Lavadia.

The city official is planning to continue implementing drug test among his personnel to keep the CDRRMO’s ranks clear of illegal drug users.

Following the dismissals, the CDRRMO started to accept applications for new personnel.

According to Labadia, a drug test result has been included as one of the top requirements for applicants. (A. Doydora)
