Man, 50, shot dead in Ubay

A 50-year-old farmer was shot dead along a national highway in Barangay Casate, Ubay at past midnight on Saturday, police said.

Ubay Police Station commander Chief Insp. Roland Desiree Lavisto identified the fatality as Emmanuel Balonga, a resident of Barangay Hambabauran in Ubay.

Balonga was gunned down by two motorcycle-riding men who rode in tandem as he was walking from videoke house, said Lavisto based on their initial investigation.

The victim fell and was killed in front of the house of a municipal councilor.

According to Lavisto, Balonga died on the spot as he succumbed to three gunshot wounds across his body.

Lavisto said that they have yet to identify the assailants and motive behind Balonga’s murder.

Police investigators continued to conduct a probe on the case, he added. (rt)
