A man facing a child abuse case voluntarily surrendered before the Tagbilaran City police on Thursday morning, almost a year after he was charged.
PO3 Jason Amonsot identified the suspect as Jeffrey Dela Torre, 32, a resident of Barangay Bool in Tagbilaran City.
According to Amonsot of the Tagbilaran police warrant section, Dela Torre has been accused of physically abusing a nine-year-old boy.
He was charged with violation of Section 10 in relation to Section 3B of Republic Act 7610 or the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act.
Judge Leo Moises Lison, presiding judge of the Regional Trial Court Branch 3 in Tagbilaran City, issued an arrest warrant against Dela Torre on September 17, 2017.
Dela Torre however was released from police custody on the same day after posting bail.
The court set the bail at P80,000 for the suspect’s temporary liberty. (wm)
