Health authorities in Dauis have intensified the town’s campaign against dengue as part of precautions to prevent infections caused by the dreaded mosquito-borne disease amid the onslaught of the rainy season.

According to Dr. Joni Co, municipal health officer of Dauis, health personnel in the town are seeking to lower the number of dengue cases through misting operations.

There have been three confirmed dengue cases in the town in the month of August and 27 since January.

Co said that all of the cases in August were recorded in Barangay Tinago.

The three patients, all minors aged 14, nine, and six, received treatment and were already in stable condition.

However, the number of dengue cases in 2018 is not projected to surpass the number of cases in 2017.

Co said there were about 80 dengue cases recorded last year. (AD)
