Police auxiliary member critically wounded in Carmen ambush

A member of the police auxiliary force in Carmen town was shot in an ambush by two still unidentified gunmen in a secluded area of the town on Monday evening.

Joselito Casibas, 39, of Barangay Nueva Vida, Carmen, remained in critical condition as of Tuesday morning. He is a member of the town’s police auxiliary force, a team tasked as force multipliers for the regular police.

According to PO2 Elmer Pabio of the Carmen Police Station, Casibas was riding a motorcycle and was headed towards a nearby village when two men blocked his path at a provincial road in Sitio San Isidro.

The two men then shot at Casibas who sustained gunshot wounds in his abdomen, waist, and chest.

Pabio, based on their initial investigation, said that Casibas was still able to flee on board his motorcycle after he was shot repeatedly.

Casibas was able to ask for help from residents alerting the authorities who in turn rushed the victim to the Gallares Memorial Hospital.

According to Pabio, they were still continuing their investigation on the case and gathering information to identify the suspects. (A. Doydora)
