A private school in Cortes allegedly lost P100,000 in cash to burglars who broke into the establishment’s treasurer’s office.

The burglary took place between Tuesday night and Wednesday dawn, said SPO1 Ruel Duetes of the Cortes police.

According to Duetes, personnel of the Infant King Academy discovered that the treasurer’s office was broken into at 6 a.m. when there were already several people inside the campus.

The school librarian reported the incident to police who in turn responded and saw that the office’s padlock was forcibly opened.

Duetes said that the cash was taken from a steel cabinet inside the office which was also opened with force. No other items were taken by the burglars.

There were no closed-circuit television cameras installed within the school premises, he added.

Meanwhile, investigators continued to conduct a probe on the case to identify the suspects. (AD)
