The resemblance between former Special Assistant to the President and senatorial candidate Bong Go and Deputy Speaker Arthur Yap is so uncanny that even President Rodrigo Duterte acknowledged their facial similarities.

Duterte, during the inauguration of the Bohol Panglao International Airport (BPIA) on Tuesday, called Yap “tito ni Bong Go,” drawing cheer from the crowd as the President also noted the third-term congressman’s impending gubernatorial battle against former Cabinet secretary Leoncio Evasco, Jr.

“Of course i-mention ko lang, yung tito ni Bong Go. You are a candidate versus Leoncio Evasco,” said Duterte, who is known to adlib and add jokes to his speeches, as he pointed at Yap.

Yap gracefully took the joke as he stood up and bowed to the President and the crowd.

It was not the first time that Yap and Go’s facial similarities drew public attention.

In a photo of both men, which had the caption “Go! Go! Go! Bong Go for Senator,” that was posted by Yap on Facebook in April, comments pointing out their resemblance poured in.

“Hahahaha!!! You look like Brothers My friend,” said former actor and now-Makati Rep.

The post drew over 60 comments and 56 shares.

Yap is now on a collision course with longtime Duterte ally Evasco as both are running for Bohol governor.

Duterte has officially endorsed Evasco’s gubernatorial bid but Yap is running under ruling party Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP Laban).
