Police in Tagbilaran City have amassed shabu worth over P12.5 million in a span of 35 months starting January, 2016 through anti-illegal drug operations.

The figure was based on data presented by SPO3 Celso Orapa during the joint meeting of the City Peace And Order Council and City Anti-Drug Abuse Council led by Tagbilaran City Mayor Baba Yap Wednesday.

According to Orapa, a total of 1,065.88 grams of shabu with an estimated street value of P12.5 million were seized from January 1, 2016 to November 31, 2018.

The largest yearlong-worth of drug haul was confiscated in 2016 at P7.5-million worth of shabu.

It was in 2016 when President Duterte launched his intensified anti-drug campaign nationwide.

Orapa said that seizure of drugs in Tagbilaran City lessened in the following years as operations against the narcotics trade waned in intensity.

Police seized shabu worth P3.5 million in the first 11 months of 2018 and P1.5 million in 2017.

Based on the same police data, the shabu haul for the entire 35-month span since January, 2016 was confiscated through 189 anti-drug operations across Tagbilaran City.

A total of 292 persons were arrested while 543 cases were filed in court during the same period. (AD)
