A 17-year-old male student died after he was accidentally shot by a drunk man in Getafe on Saturday night.

Police identified the fatality as Ariel Masas and the suspect as Mario Demar, 36, both residents of San Jose, Getafe.

According to Getafe Police chief Sr. Insp. Narciso Lagura, Demar figured in a heated argument with his drinking companion, Francisco Sagaran, at around 7 p.m. on Saturday.

Demar then allegedly pulled out a .38 caliber revolver and pointed it at Sagaran.

Sagaran in turn pushed Demar’s hand away causing the latter to accidentally pull the trigger and hit Masas, Lagura said based on their initial probe.

Masas was hit with a single gunshot in the chest and was rushed to a hospital in Talibon.

He however was declared dead on arrival.

Lagura said that Demar was able to initially flee but was arrested a few hours later by police through a hot pursuit operation.

A homicide charge was filed against the suspect on Monday, Lagura added.

Authorities also found out that Demar had no license for the firearm used during the accidental killing. (A. Doydora)
