A 28-year-old woman and her one-year-old daughter landed in the hospital after the former was accidentally hit by an AUV (Asian utility vehicle) which was allegedly driven by a priest in Maribojoc town on Monday afternoon.

The victim, Janet Villanueva, 28, of Barangay San Vicente, Maribojoc had just alighted a habal-habal (motorcycle-for-hire) and was carrying her daughter when she was accidentally sideswiped by the vehicle, said PO3 Eugene Morgia.

Both Villanueva and the infant suffered minor injuries and remained in stable condition.

According to Morgia, Gee Christian Lagria, 37, a priest and a resident of Lila town, was driving his Isuzu Crosswind from Tubigon and was headed towards Tagbilaran City during the accident along a national highway in Barangay San Vicente.

Both Villanuenava and her daughter were rushed to a hospital in Maribojoc but were later transferred to a private hospital in Tagbilaran City.

Lagria and the victim’s family reached an agreement as the priest offered to pay for the hospitalization of Villanueva and her daughter.

However, Lagria’s vehicle remained under the custody of the Maribojoc Police Station. (AD)
