Habal-habal driver arrested for drugs in Tagbilaran

A habal-habal (motorcycle-for-hire) driver was arrested by intelligence officers of the Tagbilaran City Police Station for alleged sale of illegal drugs on Sunday night.

Police identified the suspect as Lindo Jawil, 27, of Barangay Titptip in Tagbilaran City, who was newly included in the city’s drug watch list.

According to authorities, Jawil was subjected to a drug buy-bust operation after he was spotted selling shabu in Purok 5, Barangay San Isidro in Tagbilaran City.

Jawil allegedly sold shabu worth P500 to a poseur-buyer but suspected that it was a staged drug transaction.

He then attempted to flee on board his motorcycle but was later cornered by police operatives stationed around the operation area.

The arresting officers allegedly found 12 more sachets of shabu in his possession.

Police said that the seized drugs weighed seven grams and were estimated to be worth P47,600.

Jawil is now detained at the Tagbilaran City Police Station and is set to be charged with sale and possession of illegal drugs. (wm)
