Unlike in most provinces, the provincial government in Bohol is not holding a Labor Day job fair on May 1.

According to Bohol Employment and Placement Office (BEPO) chief Vilma Yorong, Bohol’s job fair is set on June 1 instead of the usual May 1.

This is due to the observance of the feast day of St. Joseph, the patron saint of Bohol capital, Tagbilaran City, on May 1.

Yorong said that this has been practiced even before the Chatto administration which started in 2010.

“Nakasuway ta sauna og April 30 pero gamay ra kaayo ang mga aplikante. Maybe na-busy, or focus sila sa other celebrations in line sa fiesta,” she said.

The BEPO is organizing the job fair on June 1 in coordination with the Department of Labor and Employment.

Yorong however noted that they have yet to identify what companies and employment agencies will take part in the event.

“Di pa ta kasulti kay after sa atong proposal sa DOLE na June 1 ta, mao pa puy pag invite nato sa mga participating agencies inig gawas g’yud sa authority from DOLE to conduct the affair,” she said. (RT)
