A 49-year-old lechon cook was killed after being stabbed by his nephew on the eve of Tagbilaran’s Fiesta Day, one of the busiest days for lechon businesses in the city.

The suspect, identified as Anthony Danio, 31, allegedly stabbed his uncle, Vicente Danio, 48, using a bolo near their respective homes in Sitio Lower Candait in Barangay Dampas on Tuesday night.

According to police, Anthony was under the influence of alcohol but they have yet to identify the motive behind the killing.

Vicente was about to start roasting pig when the incident happened.

In a report, police said that Vicente was still able to shout for help and say that he was stabbed by “Tony.”

The bloodied Vicente who incurred a single stab wound in his left chest was then rushed to the Bohol Cooperative Hospital in Tagbilaran but later succumbed to his injury.

Anthony meanwhile was accosted by a barangay tanod (village watchman) and turned over to the police on the same day.

Authorities also recovered a bloodied bolo which was believed to have been the murder weapon.

Anthony remained under the custody of the Tagbilaran City police pending the filing of a murder complaint against him. (WM)
