Male police officers in Bohol have shaved their heads as sign of solidarity in supporting the Police Regional Office (PRO) 7’s campaign for “clean” and “honest” elections.

According to Lt. Col. Conrado Manatad, chief of the Bohol police Community Relations Branch, the initiative was ordered by PRO-7 director Brig. Gen. Debold Sinas.

“Campaign na namo sa PRO 7. ‘Clean and honest election’ mao na among theme. Initiative ni sa among RD,” Manatad said.

Female police officers were not part of the initiative but they were called to support the campaign for clean elections nonetheless, Manatad added.

Last month, the Bohol Police Provincial Office also conducted a biking activity to promote its drive for peaceful elections and as sign of unity.

According to Manatad, it was the first time that police throughout the region shaved their heads to support the PRO-7’s election-related campaign.

Last year, police officers in the region also shaved their heads to honor Brig. Gen. Dennis Agustin, the PRO 7’s deputy director for administration, after he was prompted from colonel to general.

Police officers were “encouraged” to take part of the initiative also through Sinas.

Agustin who was previously assigned in Bohol as the province’s police chief is known to regularly sport a shaved look.

The move was also carried out to show solidarity within the ranks of the PRO-7. (R. Tutas)
