A voter was caught in the act of taking a picture of his ballot, which is “strictly” prohibited by the Commission on Elections (Comelec), in Baclayon on Monday morning.

The person involved who was not named by the authorities was immediately noticed by poll watchers and members of the Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) inside a voting precinct in Barangay Guiwanon.

“Pag shot niya nakit-an dayon sa mga watcher unya na call-up iyang attention unya giduol siya og gipadelete ang picture,” said poll clerk Mario Ubas.

The voter immediately complied after he was directed to delete the photo.

“Taga Guiwanon to siya. Pero aa na namo makuha ang oangan kay naaksyonan man dayon, wala man pud ingon na napasa ang picture,” said Ubas.

“Wala ra pud siya miingon unsy tumong niya basta kay pagshot niya nakit-an dayon sa atong mga watcher,” he added.

The Commission on Elections earlier reminded the public of the “strict” prohibition of taking photos or videos inside the polling precincts, particularly of official ballots.

According to Ubas, they have also been telling voters that if possible, they do not bring their cellular phones when they vote or at least not use them inside the precinct. (AD)
