A sound operator was stabbed dead allegedly after refusing to play a song request during a village ball (bayle) in Mabini town on Wednesday night.

The fatality, identified as Vicente Luyong, 39, of Barangay San Jose, Mabini was rushed to the Don Emilio del Valle Hospital in Ubay but was declared dead on arrival.

According to Master Sgt. Nelson Cagata of the Mabini Police Station, suspect Federico Sanayan, 43, of the same village was still at large.

Cagata, based on their initial probe, said that Sanayan requested for two songs to be played but Luyong only agreed to play one and asked for P100 for the other song.

Sanayan stormed off and went home to get a kitchen knife.

He allegedly returned, ran towards Luyong  and stabbed him twice.

Cagata said that Sanayan immediately fled the area following the stabbing incident.
