A 55-year-old man landed in the hospital after he was allegedly repeatedly hacked with a bolo by his drinking companion after they figured in a drunken argument in Pilar Tuesday.

The victim, identified as Teresito Biore of Barangay Bayong in Pilar, sustained several hack wounds across his body and his face while the suspect, Michael Beroy, 34, of San Vicente of the same town has been arrested.

According to Staff Sgt. Joel Tado of the Pilar Police Station, both men had just attended a funeral service before deciding to drink at a variety store in Barangay San Vicente.

While drinking, Beroy and Biore started a heated argument, Tado said based on a witness’ statement. Beroy then went home and returned at around 5 p.m. with a bolo which he allegedly used to repeatedly hack the victim.

“Gikan lubong unya pag-uli nag-inom-inom ni sila unya nagkabikil ni sila,” Tado said.

Tado added that Beroy without saying anything kept on hitting Biore with the bolo before fleeing.

Biore was rushed to the Governor Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital in Tagbilaran City while Beroy was arrested through a hot pursuit operation later on the same day.

Beroy was found hiding inside his home in Barangay San Vicente, Tado said.

He is set to be charged with frustrated homicide while Biore remained at the GCGMH fortreatment.

“Makaistorya ra man siya [Biore] unya basin kuhaan ra siya og affidavit para e-file ang kaso,” added Tado. (AD)
