Two councilors who are both allied with the current administration under Governor Arthur Yap remained firm in their intent to run for the coveted presidency of the Philippine Councilors League (PCL) – Bohol Chapter.

Loay Councilor Jecelo Adiong and Tagbilaran City Councilor Jonas Cacho met with Vice Governor Rene Relampagos, also a Yap ally, at the new Capitol last week to express their plans to run for the post.

Cacho, who earlier said he was “100 percent” sure that he will vie for the PCL’s top provincial post, noted he is willing to undergo a convention to determine who will be fielded by the Padayon Bol-anon coalition in the race.

Adiong who is a brother-in-law of Relampagos is also awaiting blessing from the coalition’s higher ranking officials.

Meanwhile, first-term Third District Rep. Alexi Tutor expressed support for Cacho who is a member of the National Movement of Young Legislators – Bohol chapter.

Tutor is the group’s provincial president.

Cacho also said that he has the support of the Tagbilaran City Council and Mayor Baba Yap.

Baclayon Councilor Atty. Theodore Cabahug, Sikatuna Councilor Constancio Rule, and Panglao Councilor Dennis Hora, who ran under defeated gubernatorial bet Leoncio Evasco, Jr.’s ticket during the May polls, have also surfaced as possible contenders in the PCL race.

Dauis Councilor Vieto Racho who was earlier reported to have also been gunning for the seat backed out due to his family’s request.

Local PCL officials get a chance to earn seats in the group’s regional and national levels while the president is accorded a Sangguniang Panlalawigan seat. (RT)
