Tagbilaran LTO ‘fixer’ arrested in Cortes drug bust

A man who admitted to being a “fixer” at the Land Transportation Office’s (LTO) Tagbilaran District Office was arrested by police during an anti-drug operation in Cortes town on Thursday night.

Police identified the alleged drug dealer as Jerome Diola, 48, of Barangay Dela Paz in Cortes who allegedly helped to fast track insurance applications at the LTO vicinity in exchange for money.

In a report, authorities said that intelligence officers of the Cortes Police Station spotted Diola as he was selling illegal drugs near his residence.

Police operatives, under the supervision of Cortes police chief Captain Roy Susvilla, then launched the buy-bust operation against Diola which resulted in his arrest.

Diola allegedly sold five packets of shabu to a police poseur-buyer for P2,500.

According to Susvilla, Diola admitted to using drugs but denied being a drug dealer.

Diola is now detained at the lock-up facility of the Cortes Police Station pending the filing of a case against for violation Section 5 Article II of Republic Act 9165, the sale of illegal drugs. (WM)
