Bohol Provincial Police Office (BPPO) acting provincial director Col. Jonatahan Cabal on Wednesday assured the public that there will be no recycling or reselling of seized contraband particularly illegal drugs by police under his watch.

According to Cabal, illegal drugs confiscated during anti-drug operations are in the “safe hands” of the police’s crime laboratory.

Cabal said that seized drugs are later re-inventoried and destroyed by the regional police command while the local crime lab serves as temporary storage for the contraband.

“Ang Bohol PPO will not tolerate any wrongdoing, and I can assure you na ang mga kapulisan dito sa BPPO are not into those kind of illegal activities,” he said.

Cabal made the assurance amid the “ninja cop” issue that has hounded the Philippine National Police with no less than its chief Director General Oscar Albayalde at the center of the controversy.

Bohol’s top cop had previously lamented the spillover of the issue which has caused public distrust of the police even in the province.

“Dahil dun sa mga ninja cops, pati kami dito naiisipan ng netizens na merong ganung nangyayari,” he said in an earlier interview.

However, Cabal who has facilitated the increase of the number of anti-illegal drug operations in Bohol since his installation in August remained undeterred as he urged BPPO cops to continue their “good work.”

“Your PD [provincial director] is proud of you na nag-accomplish kayo. At doon sa mga police station na walang accomplishment, watch out,” he said. (R. Tutas)
