A composite police team on Saturday night arrested a suspected drug dealer after he was allegedly caught red-handed selling shabu to an undercover agent in Tagbilaran City, while two of his alleged cohorts in the drug trade evaded arrest.

Anti-narcotics police operatives of the First District led by Captain Romar Labasbas and officers from the 703rd Maritime Police and Tagbilaran City Police Station collared Niño Rey Dangoy during a drug buy-bust operation near his residence in Barangay Taloto.

In a report, police said that one Robert Anthony Garcia and a still unidentified suspect fled after noticing that they were subjected to a staged drug transaction by the police near an abandoned house in the village which has been known to be a hideout for drug users.

Meanwhile, Dangoy was immediately apprehended by police and was allegedly caught in possession of shabu worth P40,800.

According to Labasbas, who is also the police chief of Panglao, Dangoy has been mostly operating in the municipality and in Dauis.

The suspect was placed under surveillance for several months before he was finally apprehended.

Dangoy is now under police custody pending the filing of charges against him for sale and possession of illegal drugs. Meanwhile, Garcia who remains at large is set to be charged with sale of illegal drugs. (WM)
