A man who was previously arrested for assaulting a cop was again apprehended by police in Tagbilaran City—this time, for drug charges.

The suspect identified as Jessie Galagnao, 33, of Barangay Manga in Tagbilaran City was collared through a buy-bust operation near his residence on Wednesday night.

In a report, police said that Galagnao noticed that he was being subjected to a staged drug transaction prompting him to flee.

He was eventually cornered by pursuing police officers after he stumbled and hit his head on the grill of a gate, authorities said.

According to police, they seized from Galagnao seven packets of suspected shabu which were worth P47,600 based on the estimated value set by the Dangerous Drugs Board.

He is now under police custody pending the filing of charges against him for violations against Section 5 (sale) and Section 11 (possession) of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Galagnao was arrested in March after he allegedly punched a police officer who was among cops deployed to respond to complaints against him as he ran amok in their village.

He was charged with direct assault on a person of authority, but was released in the same month after posting bail.

The case against him was reportedly dropped after he reached an amicable settlement with the complainant. (wm)
