A 47-year-old man who was reportedly drunk was stabbed to death inside his room in Barangay Dela Paz, Cortes.

Police identified the fatality as Vencio Epi, a resident of said village.

According to the son and nephew of Epi, the incident took place past 6 p.m.on Sunday several minutes after the victim arrived home from a drinking spree.

The three came home together while the Epi went straight to his room several minutes before the victim’s son and nephew heard a loud thud inside the room.

Authorities believed that the suspect was already inside Epi’s home before the victim and his relatives arrived as the house was empty the entire afternoon.

Responding policemen found Epi’s body drenched in blood but the suspect apparently was able to flee.

Cortes police said that they are eyeing personal conflict as possible motive for the killing of Epi.

They did not disclose more information such as the probable suspect and cause of the alleged rift while the investigation is ongoing.

However, the police noted that Epi’s house help who is of minor age previously complained that the victim molested her but no criminal complaint was filed. (Allen Doydora)
