A 28-year-old man died after the motorcycle he was driving slammed straight into an electric post in Tagbilaran City at dawn on Saturday.

The victim died on the spot due to the severe injuries he sustained in his head and body.

Authorities identified the fatality as Jason Edano, a resident of Upper Calceta in Barangay Cogon.

According to the Tagbilaran police’s traffic section, Edano was spotted sprawled on the side of the road by passersby along J.A. Clarin Street in Barangay Dao.

The Tagbilaran City Medic Team was immediately deployed to the scene but Edano had succumbed to his injuries.

Police said that Edano was not wearing a helmet during the accident.

This prompted the Tagbilaran City Police Station to reiterate its call for motorcyclists to always wear helmets when travelling on board their motorcycles.

Last month, Tagbilaran officials ordered the reimplementation of the Helmet Law throughout the city. Provincial authorities then followed suit a week after. (wm)
