The Provincial Board (PB) is set to conduct an investigation on the longstanding problem of flooding at a national road that cuts across a business and tourist area in the resort town of Panglao.

First District PB Member Benjie Arcamo, after the legislative body’s regular session on Tuesday, told media that he will request the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to give updates on possible solutions to the persistent flooding in Barangay Danao.

“Gusto nako na mapatawag ang DPWH kay national highway man na and is part of the Panglao Circumferential Road, og unsay action or naay na bay action na gihimo,” said Arcamo.

The Panglao local government unit’s engineering office which works in coordination with the DPWH on infrastructure in the municipality will also be requested to appear before the PB.

“So far wala ko kadungog ug wa ko kakita og duna bay rectification works na gihimo kay ma-compromise ang atong dalan kay bisag semento na, basta sige’g naay tubig unya maagian og sakyanan magabok na,” he added.

Arcama claimed he has received multiple complaints regarding the perennial flooding in the area.

The almost 100-meter stretch of the national road allegedly becomes impassable when flooded.

“Usahay impassable or kung ma agi-an man gani, it can still endanger motorists. It can affect the town in terms of safety, economically and also the beauty of Panglao na maoy premier destination sa Bohol so we have to do something to arrest the problem,” he said. (A. Doydora)
